Raven
Raven is an online gaming organization that I was once a member of. I became their webmaster sometime around Summer '00, and maintained their website through late 2003. This was one of the first major projects I was involved in, as the design was revised about seven times until I was finally happy with the current design (pictured below).
The original banner image was an animated .gif, and although the file was insanely large, it fit the mood the guild was hoping to achieve rather well. It said:
"In the shadows we survive..."
"With our blades we judge..."
"Close your eyes and pray."
"-Raven"
The quote was one that the guild had for a long time - since before I joined them - but it had fallen from common knowledge until I brought it back around again with their website.
This is still one of my favorite projects because it was a lot of fun to work on. The guild wanted a dark, honor-amongst-theives type of feel for their site, so it has a lot of black and gold. The book and the blood in the banner image were all created from scratch - over 87 layers to create them! - and the knife was added in later on from an image a friend had of one of his own knives.
